What is the best fish for me to get2007-11-24 23:40:57

This will be the first time I'll be taking care of a fish. I don't want a goldfish or a beta fish. I want something that's pretty but that's also $30 or under. Anyone know of any kind of a fish? I would prefer a saltwater kind, if possible.

hey minky some good beginner fish would be in my opinion freshwater of course if you want aggressive try southamerican chiclid family, colorful aggressive one would be african chiclids, or your community one like your platys or guppys, mollys.depends on what your lookin for i would go with the community fish for starter till u educate yourself on tropical fish there is a lot of variables, habitat ,origin, basic knowledge on the hobby good luck

Well i see you want to start off simple but not with an origanal type fish, right? so if this is the case u might look 4 a :

-clownfish 1st recommendation

-fighting fish

-guppy?

-or a blue kelpy

You might want to reconsider a salt water fish, since there isa lot more to them than you think. First you have to have a huge tank, and some live rock. which will put you well over $300 justto start.

Go freshwater. ciclids are good if you want one fosh, and have a fairly large tank. If you have a small tank. get a couple of danios, and some guppies. they will be colourful, abd they are quite busy, making your tank look fuller than it really is. just go to a reputable pert store, andfind something you like the look of.
