You should keep small, bright colored fishes (because you can only see their beauty by side view) in a tank. eg - discus,gappi,and tetras.many more

And flat bodied fishes where u can see them from top, should be kept in a pond.

What you think looks nice and what I think look nice are probably very different but I'll answer anyway. I have always liked goldfish, ever since I was a kid and would win them at the fair. To me the fancy ones are like water puppies with their fat bodies and when they are happy to see you it looks like they are trying to wiggle their tails at you and beg you for a treat. There are so many different types too so if you don't really like one maybe there is a different type you like. I tend to like the ones that people say are ugly, like the bubble eye, celestial or the ones with the big pom poms.

I go with an Oscar every time! If you put it alone it will become your pet just like a dog would and if you buy one that has flashy colors as a juvenile, they will get brighter and brighter and amaze you everytime. But you need a 75 gallon tank. My second choice for a smaller tank would be a pair of male kissing gouramis - they're adorable!

We bought a Koi when he was about 2" long. My son named him Jackie Chan. He is white, and about 6" long now. No one messes with him, because he is the biggest fish in the tank, but he is not aggressive. He is very active, and his fins are like lace, so when he glides around the tank, it is really beautiful to watch. Jackie also has the little fu manchu mustache. He is also very hardy, and can handle changes in the water without shock.
