What is this White fuzzy stuff all over the plastic ornaments and plants in my 10 gal fish tank2007-11-24 23:12:05

I have a feeling it is some type of algea...but what can I do to control it? Will an algea eater do the trick?

Answers:

It's like a mold or fungus-like on food, usually from left over food left to rot in the tank. Increase your water changes-do them at least once a week, be sure to vacuum the gravel area good to get all the uneaten food and waste out. Take the ornaments and plants out and rinse them off to get the mold off. Algae eater won't eat that, nothing will. Maybe a snail, but your best bet is to just clean it out yourself.

Algae won't be white, it'll be green, black, brown. And it's not ich.the only time you see ich is when it's on the fish.

Eww... clean then off asap! I think it's ICK it's a disease or something that will end up killing your fish... clean out the whole tank and put new water in it... after you clean everything off good make sure they are completely rinsed before you put them back in

serious its called 'ick' and is pretty common in tropical fish and the tanks, to treat it take your fish out of the tank wash thoroughly everything ,the decorations and equipment go to your local pet store to get the solution of medicated liquid treatment ,, its a formaldehyde based solution so pay close attention to the directions for storage and disposal if there are children or other pets ,,

Its a mold/fungus on leftover food, clean it off ASAP. By the way , its not called Ick. lol
