What is this kind of fish2007-11-24 23:41:54

I went to Wal-Mart to check out the fish there, and I noticed some cute little pink fish they had there. There was also blue fish which looked like the smae kind of specie. They weren't Neon Tetras, they were more rounder, about maybe 1.5 inch? I'm guessing. Does anybody know what kind of fish these are?

Answers:

Last time I went to Walmart and looked at their fish, I noticed they had the mixed fruit tetras (the blueberry tetras are blue, strawberry tetras are red, etc). These fish are dyed fish.

Dying fish is quickly becoming a popular fad, but be forewarned, the fish that are dyed do not live very long, healthy lives. This process is also cruel and inhumane. Do not promote this by buying these fish.

See the source link for a picture, as well as more information on dyed fish.

The pink one is probably salmon, either pacific or atlantic. I'm not sure for the blue one, but ask the employees there. They can help, trust me.
nope
Cardinals maybe?
They were a species of tetra. Without seeing a picture, it is almost impossible to tell which one.

BTW, Wal-Mart or any other pet store does not sell live salmon..trust me!

Sounds like platys to me.
You may be refering to Bettas?

Gouramis come in a variety of colors including pink and blue and are easy to care for.

I know what you are talking about. Like 8ball said, they are a Tetra. The common name for them is Painted Tetra. DO NOT purchase these fish. Their normal color is silver. Breeders use formaldehyde in some form to DYE these fish. They will not last long and will die shortly after you have gotten them home
