At first it started as one and now there are at least 20. It is white (almost milk jug color) and it looks like thick strings. Are they some form of worm or is it something I need to clean out?
Answers:I have them too i just try to suck them out when I do a water change here is a website if you are worried about it though.http://www.wetwebmedia.com look at these worms http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rs... this is what is in my tank so take a look
Are they fish eggs???????
If it looks like small sections of thin white thread floating around the water it is a type of worm. This is common in tanks where the fish are fed live food. Goldfish or minnows for example.
If so, you need a complete water change and cleaning of all equipment and accessories.
no no no dont get rid of them i have a bunch in my 55g sw tank. i forget what they are called, but they are not bad. look at the base of the "worms" do they have kind of a house made out of the substrate if they do, just leave them they will eat all the left over food and junk on the bottom of the tank.
I might have the same thing in my tank. They look like thin white strings coming out of a encrusted tube. Some are on the rocks while others are in the sand. At first it looked annoying, but the guy at the fish store said they are beneficial to the tank. So I got use to the way it looks. I have them everywhere. I wouldn't try to kill them or brush them because they spread fast.
