They really don't have a prefrence they prey on the weak so they'll pretty much eat anything. That is hurt, weak, and not strong enough to get away from it. They mostly prey on seals tho. Thats why surfers get bitten, just a case of mistaken identity. Since they attack from below and dart straight up they catch them by surprise from underneath thats also why you see them jump right out of the water in the videos.
