What kind of fish for a beginner2007-11-24 23:42:21

I'm going to university now and I would like to have a fish (or fishes) to keep me company. But the tank can not be too big, 'cause my room isn't huge. I would also like to have coldwaterfish. So what would you suggest to a beginner as me for tank and kind of fish?

Answers:

All fish require the same type of care. It depends only on the size of the tank. Buy a kit with heater, filter and lighted hood and have some fun deciding what type of fish you like most.

Only cool water fish I can think of is a goldfish, and they're going to require a larger tank, I'd say at least a 20 gal for one.

a gold fish is a good starter fish! But if you want a really cool fish get a PAIR of pink kissers!! I stress a pair because if you dont get 2 then who will 1 fish have to kiss!!

do not get goldfish!they need a BIG tank,filteration,weekly 50% water changes and proper nutrition.if you could get a fifty gal you could get two or three,the smallest goldfish gets five inches,most goldfish get around 12 to 14 inches.

The only "cold water" fish is a gold fish. All other fish are "tropical and need a heated tank. There is a Betta and you can put one of those in a non heated tank as long as the room isn't too cold.
