You can put a Betta in a large vase even But only put one in a container. What is kind of interesting is getting several smallish containers and place them next to each other so the male Betta's can see each other but obviously not get to each other.

When the Betta males see each other through the glass the mock fight with each other. Kind of interesting to watch.

No its not mean. But if you notice one fish getting stressed too much more the vase/containers.

In my part of the country Betta's cost about $4. and then the cost of the glass container,rock in the bottom and distilled water.

If you go to your local pet store they can help you get started.

i would get a beta,color your choice,and u can teach them how to do tricks.get one beta-if u have 2 in a tank they will fight,and and u can add a tropical snail,witch they have many color to choose from,the snail will help keep your tank clean.and u can add 2 female guppies,and or 2 goldfish, or u can add mollies,and u can put all of these in a 2 to 5 galloon tank.

the first fish i got was a beta and the tank does not have to be big i only had one of those small bowls and it lived for like 2 years and it probaly would have lived longer but i forgot about it and it froze in the ice storm we had back a while ago.

get a betta, but make sure he has at LEAST 1 gallon of water , 2.5 gallon is better, and with a 5 gallon he will be VERY happy!
