I have a beta.

Answers:

Betas CAN live with other fish, you just can't have two male betas togethere. But, they will mess with other colorful small fish like guppys. I had one in my community tank for over 5 years.the only fish he ever bugged was my fancy tail guppys, but my gourami would protect them for some reason.

Gold fish is good.

get some guppies if u want to have a whole bunch of fish. otherwise get a pirana :)

Get you a catfish. If worst comes to worst you can always eat it.

Try raising pet plants. I raise some pet tomato plants every year. It's a lot of fun & rewarding. You might be surprised how good a vine ripe tomato tastes.
