What kind of food should I feed my neon tetras2007-11-24 23:42:01

I just got a 5 gallon tank and have 3 neon tetras for now. Any specific food types or brand suggestions would be appreciated.

Answers:

Any fish food that says tropical fish flakes. Tertamin, or nutrafin are good choices. Get a small container as 3 neons shouldn't eat much, and let it sit around a lot is less than ideal.

PS- Given you just put 3 neons in a new tanks thats only 5 gallons. I'd get some thing to monitor ammonia, and do a weekly change of 1-2 gallons when you vacuum your gravel. (You do have cheap gravel vacuum??)

Any commercial flake food will work. Make sure you don't overfeed. Tetras won't need more than 1-2 flakes per fish per day (depending on the size of the flake, of course). Over feeding will just foul your tank.

They are Omnivores so a mixed diet for them would be best
