A pet store owner told me that if there is no algae for them to eat, give them french style green beans.

My plecos love shrimp pellets, sunken flake food, blood worms (frozen and dried), freeze dried brine shrimp (they swam upside down for those), the occasional pea, and a bit of mandarin orange (small amount). If you feed any veggies or fruit, remember to remove it within an hour or so to prevent it from spoiling the water.

As the mouth is at the bottom, it will be good to give sinking food. But the fish will swim upwards to eat whatever floating food if it is hungry. Live Tubifixworm is a good idea. Don't give live Blood worm as they are mosquite lavae.

Pleco sucker-mouth Catfish have been mistaken to be a "left-over or algae eater" cos they like to "mop" the bottom and the side of the tank alot. They are doing this to search for food, but they are atually plant eater that eat plants that they can find in the tank. Try feeding them vegetables, fruits, peas or even plain white rice cut to bit size and abit is enough. Any fishfeed that will sink or specially formulated for Bottom-Dweller is also suitable. Please have enough food for the others fish or they will start to take away food from the Pleco as they are "shy" and will stay at the bottom until any leftover is find on the bottom of the tank.
