What other fish can you put in with goldfish2007-11-24 23:42:10

I have a 20 gallon goldfish tank/ I'm trying to find out what other fish you can put in the same tank with goldfish?

How many goldies do you have in there? Goldfish need AT LEAST ten gellons per fish. They are very different than other fish.

They are also coldwater fish. Most freshwater fish in stores are tropical- they need warm water.

If you have room. A pair of dojo loaches would be fun. You would have to upgrade your tank soon though. My male dojo is about 9 maybe 10 inches long. There are a few species of danio- the giant- impaticular that prefer cooler temps. They get to be about 4inches long though and you need to keep them at least in a group of three-so= bigger tank.

I would stick with your goldies you have in there. Once they get bigger upgrade to a 55 or 75 then worry about tank mates.

The urine comment isn't completely accurate. Goldies produce a lot of ammonia which stresses other fish.

WOW- in the time it took to write this people told you a lot of lies! The buggy eyed goldfish do not eat other goldfish (anymore then the others do- the eat fry). Plecos and algae eaters CAN NOT be kept with goldfish the eat the slime coat off them leaving them vulnerable to disease and very stressed out. Cory cats, mollies and gupies are all warm water fish- NOT COMPATIBLE!

Goldfish take up alot of space, not only because they get big but because they produce alot of waste, you really should'nt mix any other fish with them, except maybe a plecostomus or some corys and other varieties of goldfish, there are some cool goldfish out there, like bubble eyes, celestial eye, orandas, lionheads, pearlscales the list goes on, just remember goldfish take a minimum of 5 gallons per fish once full grown.

I know you can't put the black fish with the buggy eyes in with a regular goldfish. the big buggy eyed one will eat the little gold one. If you have a gold fish tank why not just put gold fish in there?

I have had a 55 gallon goldfish tank.. you can not mix many fish with them.. just different types of goldfish. They do well with the pacaustamis (sucker fish) the benefit of them is they clean the sides of the tank.. goldfish are one of the dirtiest yet hardy fish.
