What the heck
Just want to make sure. my friend says bettas are ok with any other fish except bettas.. is this true..? She said she put a betta with other fish. it was fine.?
Answers:It depends on the betta really. I have had several bettas in comunity tanks with tetras and even an angelfish. But I have also had a betta that was not ok with other fish and had to be removed after eating neons.
Different bettas have varying personalities, some are agressive and some are laid back towards other fish besides bettas.
Should be lol Im thinking of adding a goldfish to my red betta, if it doesnt work out then you could jut get a plastic sepperaor bowl
yea, betta's fight with other beta's
it should be ok w/ any other fish
Yes. Another name for Betas is Siamese Fighting Fish. They will square off with other Betas but will leave other fish alone
no actually male bettas are better with female bettas not other kinds of fish
A male beta is a solitary animal, They prefer to be kept alone with lots of cover like their natural habitat.
Mixing with other fishes is questionable because of many factors. Some betas can adapt to living in a community of other docile fish, Some will just hide in the corner and die. While the majority of the problems of keeping a beta in a tank with other fish is because of their weak swimming abilities they might not get enough food to eat having to compete with faster fish.
They get along with mollies, but try it out and just watch them for awhile.
It is good with any other fish except other betas. Your friend was right. But beta are fine alone so don't think it needs other fish. But it still is fine. My beta and my sister's have seperate tanks, we have three different tanks because my sister's beta moved into a bigger bowl that she bought. I don't dare move mine because of shock even though the other one is bigger but this one is home to mine. This just helps to tell you about shock. And the betas are not even close to each other. One is in the kitchen the other in my bedroom. Hope this helped!
In most cases this answer would be yes. Be aware sometimes fish fins may just be on the menu so if you look one day and some are missing you will know what happend
Yes, aslong as the tank is 5 gallons or larger. Bettas are territorial in any size less then 5 gallons. Also NEVER HOUSE GOLDFISH WITH TROPICAL FISH. Godlfish excrete too much ammonia for tropical fish such as bettas to handle. Also they have dietary differences and goldfish get 12-14 inches. Christina is gonna kill her fish due to her ignorance. Dont listen to her.
