What the heck

What the heck2007-11-24 23:42:30

Fish that should not be housed with bettas because of fin nipping tendencys or just plain nastyness are- angelfish (type of cichlid that can be nasty), black tetras, rainbowfish, tiger barbs, rosy barbs, gouramis, zebra danios, male fancy guppies and giant danios.

Fish that are fine with a male betta are - female guppies, platys, mollies, swordtails, neons, glo-lite tetras, phantom tetras, dwarf frogs, ottocinclus, xray catfish, xray tetras, farowellas, cory catfish, cardinal tetras, scissortail rasboras, clown loaches, pristellas, tricolor sharks, thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

Make sure you reseach any fish before you buy it to make sure it wont outgrow your tank. Every male betta is different so some can be more aggressive or skittish.

I had a male betta in a 5.5 with neon tetras and cardinal tetras and i never had a problem.

Depends - what she probably meant was don't put 2 males together. Obviously if you don't put a male and a female together at some point you won't have anymore Bettas.

As for what they are compatible with - here's the profile on the Betta.

Good luck!
