What type of fish can survive a few weeks alone2007-11-24 23:42:36

Basically, I'm going to be gone from december 16 to January 16. What kind of fish can I have where I can leave them alone with some of those 14 day food things for that month and they will still be alive when I come back.

Answers:

For less then $20.00 you can get an automatic fish feeder that will feed them for a month. It is probably cheaper then restocking your tank when you get back.

well lets see. Put you in a tank, feed you the first 14 days and see if you last the next 16 days. While you are swimming in your own food and poop with no water change. The feeders are time released they will only last 14 days, you will most likely come back to dead fish. Pet store employee for 4 years
Okay there are fish who can last on travel food. Bettas being one them. But water changes are going to be a big deal. To not have to change the water for an entire month you are going to need about a 200 gallon aquaruim and have it severely UNDERstocked. It would have to be about 1 inch of fish for every five gallons of water. And they would have to be clean fish. NO goldfish! You would need a feeder that lasted 14 days to come on every other day. Since fish don't need to be fed every day. SO a 200 gallon aquarium, one inch of fish for every five gallons, and an auto feeder on for every other day might last a month. Might. Good luck.
frozen fish are the best for weeks at a time.
