Don't buy fish, or at least don't get attached to them. Automatic feeders generally don't work well. They put to much in, and foul the water. Also you need to clean the gravel in a tank weekly, and change out some of the water.

What do you mean, "can I have"? Don't you have them yet? If not, don't get them yet. Wait until you come home.

Some fish can go as long as 2-3 weeks without eating if they are in super condition, but they all need to have partial water changes done every week.

Have you no friends that aren't idiots? Relatives? Someone who could drop in and feed every 3-4 days and do a small (20%) water change once a week.

If you have no problem buying new ones, give them back to the pet store, at least their deaths won't be on your conscience. Maybe the pet store will even give you credit for a few new ones when you get back..
