What type of fish is suitable for a beginner2007-11-24 23:42:36

I want to get fish that don't require a lot of care and I also want fish that can easily breed? I have a 30 gallon tank, how many should I get as well?

Goldfish can breath surface air. So can Betas. If you want to breed fish, get a few guppies(enough so that you know you have both males and females). They breed like rabbits. Get about 6 Guppies.

Tetra, they're pretty, colorful, low maintenance & non-agressive.

One fish per gallon, you could have up to 30 tetras.

I would start much smaller because you may not want to clean the tank all the time.

TRust me do not get into TANKING FISH unless you are doing it as part of teh GOVERNMENT underground , teach fish to be vegan labs. I mean get in to PLANTS or something . you'lll be the talk of the town. They'd be like oh look this guy has got plants.. there are also those hightech mini-water toy things that go in the tank to cause amusement.

Get guppies - they're tropical fish and breed easily. The website should tell you how many you should get for a 30 gallon tank.

i would say guppies there are some really fancy guppies and they even have shows judging the best guppy. you can get fancy guppies and keep them seperated and start your own breed of guppies..they are a lot of fun too. i had them when i was young and even today i have a few in my community tank i am now 59

platys or guppys are the eaisest to breed. But cat fish( the small ones) are the eaisest to keep. they can handle hard water and they can live with a lot of alge in the tank. for a 30 gallon tank i would start with 4 or 5.

A Beta Fish - you can't kill the little suckers. Although - I don't think you can put them with other fish - they will kill them.
