What types of fish are easy and cheap to care for and require no expensive equipment
None of them are easy, you must commit yourself to doing regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes and monthly maintenance to the filter and clean the gravel periodically. Once the aquarium is up and running, do not tear it down and do a complete clean out, you will lose all the good bacteria that is built up and probably some of your fish too.
All tropicals need a heater ($10-12), filter ($15-18) and one gallon of water for each inch of small slim fish. A ten gallon aquarium is about $10. Gravel will run you about $4-6 depending on what kind and color you get.
Goldfish do not need the heater, they are coldwater fish. They do, however, need about 3 times the water per inch of fish because they are so dirty.
No fish should be kept in a bowl, they all need clean water and good food (once a day is plenty for feeding no matter what the fish food can says)!
gold fish and berettas. all you need is water
We once had goldfish which lasted about 6 years.
Just a plain tank, no pump, fill it with stones and water and maybe some plantage nad there you go.
Tip: Before putting the water in a tank, leave it to stand for 24 hours in an open bucket to allow the chlorine to evaporate off, as chlorine is not good for fish.
Try guppies ,start with plain ones and watch them breed ,very cheat fish and easy to feed ,keep in small tanks or easy bowls ,was my first fish and i use to give some away
Goldfish. It's a carp and they can live through most anything.
beta fish.colorful..cannot have but one per bowl, tho.siamese fighting fish they are also known by,ans will kill anything else in bowl.does not require pump, etc
bettas only need like, a three - five gallon tank. But, they need a heater and filter or they will die. There tropical fish so they like warmer water, and they NEED filtiration. Petsores dont know a lot about fish, so i wouldnt listen to them to much.
Beta fish
betta
I have a ten gallon tank with a betta, one molly and one platty and no heater or filter. I just make sure to change part of the water every week. They are also community fish so I can add the heater and filter and add different fish without a problem
