What types of fish would go with Iriescent Shark and Plecostomus2007-11-24 23:42:39

I have a 10 gallon tank. Everything is set up and ready to go. WE already 1 of each of the Iriescent Shark and Plecostomus.

both iridescent sharks and pleco's grow far too large for a 10 gallon tank, both of them will rapidly outgrow it, the pleco in about 6 months assuming he's about 3 inches right now

you may be better off taking those guys back to the fish store and asking for some smaller fish, maybe 6-8 neon, glowlight, lemon, red/blue columbian or serpae, these are all kinds of tetra.

for bottom dwellers, try a couple of corydoras catfish, even up to 3-4 if you don't have many other fish, or a 3-4 otocinclus catfish, but remember otos must have live plants in the tank to live at ease

with small fish like that the tank could probably support 12-15 fish, with the two you have, no more really, and the shark also has a tendency to be aggressive

I have just regular gold fish and it seems to work fine. Just remember that you Plecostomus will get hugh. I have a 10 gallon aquarium and that fish went from 2 inches to over 6 inches.

If ur aquarium is big enought, this fish can be kept with other fish and is usually no problem even with smaller fish that could be eaten. They usually only try to eat fish that are either dying or distressed. In their natural environment they are an active, strong swimming species. Therefor they need a rather large aquarium. In the wild they form large nomadic schools. They are often seen together with Brown smooth-hound shark, Mustelus henlei, and the Gray smooth-hound shark, Mustelus californicus or the Piked dogfish, Squalus acanthias.
