What will happen if i move 3 Danios and a Glolight tetra into a new tank after 3 days of setting it2007-11-24 23:42:42

If you put those fish in that tank now the only thing that is going to happen is that they will start the Nitrogen Cycle with their waste, and that is going to start the whole Ammonia to Nitrite to Nitrate process, but doing that with fish could take from 3 weeks to 2 or 3 months depending on the size of the tank.

Might I make a suggestion for you when setting up a new tank? Do what's called a "Fishless Cycle". Here is one of the best articles to date on how to do just that (read the 10 and 14 day recipies when you get done reading the main body of info).

Most members of the Danio family are extremely tough. You could probably transfer them with no problem. With Tetras however, you should be more careful. After 3 days any chlorine you might have in your water , if it's city water, would have evaporated. You don't have to worry about cycling, that's only if you are dealing with African Cichlids or salt water fish. If you are moving them from another tank, take say 1/4 of the water from the old tank and put it in the new tank. The following is most important, and is all I would do in this situation. Make sure the PH is the same. If the water temp. is the same,then you can put them in. If not, float them until equal. The only reason for the other precautions above is I knew you were very concerned, and I wanted to make sure things would go right
