Guppies are tropical, so yes they do need a heater. White cloud mountain minnows are cold water fish though so you can keep them with the goldies.

Some people can have live plants with goldfish and other can't. Goldfish love to eat them, so start out with some of the cheap ones and if they are safe then you can think about the more expensive ones.

goldfish will probably eat live plants if you put them in the tank. I would use silk plants. Also, don't put any fish with goldfish. Only other goldfish can go with goldfish. They produce too much amonia for other fish to handle. Even if your amonia levels test fine it can still be a fatal enviroment for other fish. There are many different types of goldfish, I would just add some of these. Goldfish get 12- 24 inches and need 2 gallons of water per inch of fish (ex. 4 inch goldfish needs 8 gallons of water).

Silverfish,because if a silverfish and a gold fish mate together a baby will be born and with the colour of silver and gold. I suggest a silk plant.

Fish: Paradise Fish (not recomended as they are very aggresive), Comet Tails, Shubunkins, Sunfish, Ryukin Veiltails (found in a variation ofcolours), Pearlscales and Lionheads can all be put together with goldfish.
