Whats the hardiest (most low maintenance) fish youve ever kept2007-11-24 23:42:43

A simple goldfish would probably be the next easiest & hardy fish to care for.

Goldfish are the lowest maintence fish. Need tank, gravel, air-bubbles, water that has sat over night. My goldfish lived for 5 year & then gave him away. Now I raise fancy tailed guppies-it started out as a hobby now I sell them to pet stores. Relaxing hobby. Good luck & have a good day!

Betas are def the easiest fish to have. They live for years and are pretty resiliant. They can't be put with any oher fish however.

Goldfish is also an excellent choice. Make sure if this is the choice that you pick the goldfish that ae about 3 inches in length (larger goldfish) They can live for 13+ years. They are relatively low maitainance and feeding them less (aka forgetting to) will make them live longer as opposed to feeding them too much, which will cause them to explode.

I have had fish for years. The easiest and requiring the lowest maintenance fish I've had are goldfish, if you don't have a heater in the tank, and danios.

Betta fish. They don't require a lot. I had mine for going on 4 years now. He is completely alone but despite belief, they are not suppose to live in small bowls, betta bowls or vases. They are suppose to have atleast 5 gallons of water with a filter and heater.

I had three danios in a 1 ft tank for about 2 years. Placed them in three ft tank along with a load of other fish. The one danio kept jumping out as soon as I opened the canopy and he woul land on the floor. I'd pick him up wipe him off gently and pop him back in the water. About a year later I gave the danios to friends. THe danios are still alive another 1 year later. So I'd go with danios as being the hardiest fish I've ever kept.

Bettas are hardiest then goldfish come second to that. Bettas in the wild can live in mud puddles but not happily. No tank mates for male bettas they'll either kill it or fight it so much it'll get killed. If you want tank mates for a betta then you should get a female betta tho they're not as attractive. All you'd need for one betta is a 2 gallon tank and make sure if you don't want to get a filtration system to change the water regularly.
