When can I put my baby fish into the comunity tank with the rest of my fish2007-11-24 23:42:49

I have guppies, mollies, tiger barbs, neons, and 1 rasbora (which is pretty fast) in the community tank that I want to put the babies in.

Answers:

they should stay away from the rest until they are big enough not to be eaten, either that or provide plenty of small hiding spots for them wher the bigger fish cant get at them, but it is best to wait until they are large enough to go back into the tank

put them in now they well be good food for the stronger fish
You can put it anytime..
well you have to make sure that all of the fish are compatible with each other. like for instants you cant put a Chinese fighter fish with a gold fish or it'll eat it. then you can put it in
guppies are known for eating their own young, and tiger barbs can be agressive. I would say until the babies are large enough not to be considered a food source - which means they practically need to be the same size as the fish you have in the tank currently.
Put them in when they are to large too eat right? If you feed the community tanks fish good food like brine shrimp, glass worms, live mosquito larvae they will show little interest. Also live plants for hiding helps.
make sure you have enough hiding places for them and your tank is still big enough that you can handle them all if they survive.. if not then let some out. usually you have to wait till them are big enough they dont fit into the mouths of your bigger fish.. its been so long since I have had fish I cannot tell you how many weeks that is.. but they need to double in size from birth size - let a few out at a time.
i always wait untill the babys are big enough to not get eaten
I wouldn't put them in until they are about 2/3 the size of their parents. As they will be smaller and a new addition to the tank, the tiger barbs may take the opportunity to abuse and nip the babies. About how many are there? Are there alot of hiding spots? More fish will diffuse the aggression and chance of getting killed/eaten/maimed, while more hiding spots will not only make them more social but less likely to be stressed or killed.
put them in when they are hungry.
when their about one inch
For the type of fish you have, I'd say 1 inch.
If a fish is small enough to fit in another fish' mouth, it will get eaten.
They have to be 1/2 to 3/4 of the adult size before they can be placed in the tank with the other fish. One suggestion, it seems that you need to add 3 to 6 White Clouds to your aquarium.
Wait untill there almost aduldt or until there bigger than those guys mouth and are strong.
