its OK with a bucket, you have to keep the water for few hours, they are tuff fish so dont think so much.
Yes, you can take your oscar out of his aquarium without stressing him out too much! I've had an oscar for over two years now. I put him in a clean bucket with dechloronated tempurature adjusted water until I've fully cleaned ou the tank. Otherwise, if you leave it in there while cleaning out a really dirty tank, it will suffer by having to breath in the stuff that gets blown around as you siphon it. Just make sure the water you put in the bucket is dechloronated and the same tempurature as the water it's coming from so as to not shock it. And likewise when you fill the tank back up with water.
Never clean the whole tank. You should be changing no more then 30% of the water every week with aged tap water (24 hrs). Buy a gravel vacuum that will remove the large bits of debris while pulling out some of the water. Feeding too much will kill him very quickly. The fish should always be a bit hungry. Reduce the feeding to half of what you have been giving him, and feed him only every other day for a couple of weeks while the regular water changes clear out the tank.

you don't have to take all the water out of the tank just do a 50-75% water change he will be fine in there may be a little stressed but he will be ok. Feeding if you have oscar pellets that is good only give him what he can eat in three mins. NEVER over feed they also eat lettuce,peas,carrots blood worms,earth worms,frozen shrimp (thawed out of course) green beans,broccli,etc. DO NOT feed them feeder fish unless you raise the feeders your self or qaurentine them for at least a month. How big is the tank remember they can reach sizes between 12-16 inches so at least a 55 gallon tank is required for 1 Oscar with a very good filtration system good luck on your new Oscar you will fine that they are fun and pleasant to have
