Who knows about breeding blue gills and bigmouth bass caught in Illinois rivers Summer 20062007-11-24 23:43:43

I caught a blue gill Summer 05 and caught 4 smaller blue gills and one bigmouth bass Summer of 06 in various Illinois rivers around the South Chicago and Southwest suburban areas. The fish are all living together beautifully in the same 55 gallon home tank environment. I feed them feeder goldfish (M and L) 2wice monthly.

I think my bigmouth bass is pregnant. Its swimming has become angled and its bottom appears to be turning red with a small opening for about two weeks now. Since I fish for fun and collect them for aesthetics, I'm wondering what's going on?

So, if anybody out there can help me learn what to do if my visual analysis is correct or I have something else on my hands that needs tending. I really appreciate your time and response.

hey there fellow fisherman i'd watch talkin to that guy might be a dnr officer seeing though keeping native fish in a aquarium is illegal without a permit, as you know bass spawn in the spring and you said you only have one it could have eggs but you need the male to fertalize, bass will hold there eggs till time is right, the bluegills have a better chance of propagating sounds like seeing that you have four i have caught bass with red belly like that but only one time and it was in a known polluted pond cant answer that one but hope i helped out a fellow fisherman, keep rippin them lips!
