Why Wont My Bettas Breed
I have always had healthy bettas but never breeding ones! I have followed all the sites instructions but my male I choose ALWAYS goes to teh corner or bites her fins!
Answers:Unfortunately, those fish are bred for colors only and the ability to reproduce is not a choice when choosing which Bettas are bred. The ability of them to breed is declining. It helps to condition them for breeding by increasing the amount of feeds a day, (but not the total amount, and adding a large variety of food. I feed each food at least once a week:
Small earth worms (but not red ones)
inside of frozen peas
Live brine shrimp
Live blood worms (hard to find, but easy to keep live in fridge)
pureed raw beef heart (can easily be frozen and bits broken off)
boiled egg yolk
freeze-dried tubiflex worms
I have a small but heavily planted tank of females and there are always a few ready to breed. They get extremely round and have visible white protuberances at their anus. The stripes on their body develop within 12 hour of letting them view a male, so when I release them, they are more then will to face downwards when the male flares at them

Fish have seasons for breeding, this is not the season for Betas. They usually hop to it come February, and spring,. at least that is my experience. The male will annoy the female if she does no have eggs. He will get in the mood when she puts on eggs, will blow a bubble nest and coax her under it. Once they have bred (it is really something to watch, he actually wraps his body around hers and squeezes the eggs out) he blows the fertilized eggs into the nest. REMOVE her once they have spawned..he may kill her if you don't . He will take care of the eggs and fry. When fry are free swimming and eating on their own, remove him. Good luck
The aquarium shouldn't be so deep that he can't recover the eggs. The temperature should remain constant. Most of the instructions are similar from site to site. You could try using a 20 gal. long tank for 1 male and 1 or 2 females. Plant it a bit heavily on one side of the tank so the females can find plenty of places to hide well away from where the male is making and tending the nest. Don't put any other fish in there. If possible use live plants so there will be bits floating for the male to use in the bubble nest. If he goes after the females they will be able to escape. They will breed when one of the females is ready. Take the females out after a breeding so they don't eat the eggs or babies and so the male doesn't have to keep chasing them away from the nest. Be careful not to disturb the tank too much removing the females.
you have a pink one and a blue one, right?
they are a really tempermental fish they are a hard fish to breed they fight most of the time .u get lucky and get a good pair or get a new male
YOU HAVE TO controll the temperature of the water, you must keep them in dark plase , you have to put a leafe on the tank then the make a nest and female will come closer and do the thing, some times male attak the females that time you have to separate them and try a nother one, keep trying it will defineately works [ 150%]
In my experience. It is best to find a clear container to put the female in let her float on the top of the water for a few days. Watch them closely, and they will actually do a dance. The females belly will change colors. When this happens let her lose. I was able to breed at all times of the year with the proper environment! Make sure you have plants on the opposite side of the males bubble bed. So she can hide. And never ever remove a female until she is unstuned, or she will never be able to be bred again. They will do it several times. And the male will eventually chase her off, and become very aggressive with her, and that is when you need to take the female out. Good luck!
there are many many reasons why a fish will not breed. you should look at this site and read through the breeding section. maybe you will find out what your might be doing wrong or how you could go about doing it better to promote your betta to breed.
