Why has my tank clouded over night
I have a 29 gallon tank in my office. It is not over populated and regular water changes or done. It has been up and running for a about year with no issues and very little loss of fish. What would cause the water to go from crystal clear to green and clouded over night? There is also a definite odor coming from the tank.
Answers:Cloudy water in an established tank is almost always from a bacterial bloom. The smell also indicates this. Did a fish die in the tank? Maybe somewhere behind a rock or underneath something where it cannot be seen easily? This is my first thought. Find the dead fish, get it out, and do a water change. Or did someone overfeed the fish? Are you sure no one, a child, or perhaps a cleaning staff person did not get hold of the food and try to be "helpful" and feed the fish too much? Excess food/decaying livestock could provide nutrients for a algae bloom, too.
You need to clean out your tank about once a month or so..it's getting cloudy b/c of all the fish poop and all the other gunk like moss and stuff is building up.so just clean it out and see if that helps
probally someone died in there or an epidemic happend were a disease spread through a bunch.
