Why has my tank turned brown
I treated my tank for "ick" and now everything is turning brown. I have brown spots on the sides and on the floral ornaments. My fish are dropping off like flies! HELP !?!
Answers:Too much poop. When you add medications, the fish, for some reason, poop a lot more. Make sure you have good filterization (without carbon) or if it looks really bad, do a 25%-75% water change. If they look like they are going to die right away, immediately take them out into a tank with fresh water. When they calm down, clean the medicated tank (scrub, scrub, scrub!) and put the fish back in there. If you feel like they can handle it, put the medicine in.

The *brown* you are seeing is built-up algae.you need to take EVERYTHING out.WASH IT with HOT water.& then put it back together & let the filtre run for 24 hours WITH-OUT any fish.
You may also have to move it out of direct sunlight, if that is where you have it now
Add more plants to the aquarium, this will use up the nutrients algae need to grow as well as provide more oxygen for the fish
