Why is my gold fish dying all the time
I'm trying keep them but they always duing in few month, it's not overfeeding, I don't think it's a fungural.
It's always the same story - the fish look like it get burned or something - it slightly changes the body shape and become more ungular. It swims on the sirface only for a couple of day, can't get to the bottom of the tank, then it dyes.
I also have few small scooling fishes - they leave for longer, but still dye with the same symptons in about 6 month.
I though I tried everything. I keep the tank clean, have filters and air. Change the 1/5th of the water every week. I use the water conditionar and keep the asid ballance to the neutral. I tried all antybiotics - they don't give any resilts. I also tried to re-set up the tank from scratch - didn't work either.
What can it be?
I feel like this can be something else in the water - shell I run any more tests for the goldfish?

I've been told that goldfish will get poisened if they live w/ other fishes for a while
All clues point to water. Try getting some water from another source. Even get gallons of bottled water and try that.
i had a fish that bloated up and looked like an orange, then his body got very soft, but it was about 4 yrs old and six inches long. it is a fish disease. you may have to wait until all your fish die, then totally disinfect the tank , but i really suggest you go to a goldfish keeping website, there surely are several as i found some on beta, good luck
Check the water. It may be the chemicals in the water, if so add some drops of water conditioner. Or even check the water temperature. Clean the tank once a week. It may pay to dip the plastic plants, rocks, etc in vinegar to kill off any bacteria that may be on them. Make sure you clean the vinegar off though because it won't be good for the fish.
