sounds like you have had an algae bloom , shade your done with fake lillies that will cover the surface , there is a product called algaefix made for ponds. it will take care of the stringy algae as well as the green water part

l too have this trouble too, my pond is bright green, and even my white ducks came out green, l am trying lillies too, l think there is to much sunlight getting in .

Its because of the algae and you need to clean your pond so it will look nice.

Too much sunlight. I've tried that pond algae fix stuff, didn't work for me. I've given up, just gonna relocate it to a shadier place. I'm afraid to see how big my pleco's gotten over the last few months, he was about 14 inches in April..
