does the silicon sealant on the tank deteriorate after a couple of years or will it last for the life of the tank.
Answers:Nope, good sealant will last as long as the tank, provided it hasn't been damaged due to improper moving or moving while full of water. This can cause separation at the seams, the result being a leak. If you are having a leakage problem aquarium safe silicone is available at the better shops, just make sure to use this and only this as the stuff you find at home centers contains toxins which will leach into the water and kill all your stock. Good luck.
Eventually it will deterioate, but that will take many years.
they last forever if you are talking about a fresh water fish tank.
i've had a tank leak before. you can get aquarium silicon sealant to seal it up. maintanance is easy.
