I am not sure, but i do know that the female doesnt really have any part in it. It is all the male. He builds a bubble nest, on the tope of the water. Then the female will deposit her eggs, and the male gaurds and fans them. He is the sole provider. Once the female has done her job, she is done.

About 26 days. When she starts looking completely dark and gets kinda square back there, that's when she's really to "pop".

For Luvspell..Guppies are Live Bearers, they do not lay eggs. Female Guppies will have fry every 5 weeks. Mine do. You will notice that they will develop a dark spot on there belly, towards the back. I always notice when they start swimming funny and trying to hide that they are ready. I'll usually put the mother in a separate tank and she'll drop. When she's done I just put her back with the other adult fish.

Your guppy will give birth about every 28 days, birthing 6-8 times from a single sexual encounter, and she will have anywhere from 20-50 babies normally.

Your guppy will eat her babies, so you will need to make sure they are separated after birth if you want to keep the whole lot of them. You can feed them anything from specified fry food (Hikari makes a good one called First Bites), to crushed flakes like you feed your adult fish (just put them in a baggie and crush them into a fine powder), to a cooked egg yolk in a spray bottle with tank water (just make sure the spray bottle is brand new and has never seen any chemicals. Put the egg yolk in the bottle and shake it well to break up the yolk. Shake every time you need to use it. This will last about a week.). You babies will need to be fed every 4-6 hours to make sure they're getting adequate nutrition. They will also need pristine water conditions.

If you have a filter that hangs over the back of your tank, you'll need to cover your filter intake tube so that none of the babies get sucked up. You can use anything from filter floss to brand new pantyhose. I, personally, use a brand new sponge.

You will also need to continue to do your weekly water changes. I use airline tubing instead of my normal gravel vacuum so that I don't suck up any babies.

The greatest part is trying to sex them. I swear, every baby that I thought was a female turned out to be male.
