You'll need a few zip lock or fish bags [a lot of pet stores will give them to you free of charge] Remove the inserts from your filter and put in bags filled with water from your tank. [This is to keep the beneficial bacteria alive.]

Put some gravel in a bag or bucket, again with tank water - for the same reason as above.

Lastly get a filter insert of ammonia remover.

So basic method:

- Don't feed your Oscar for a day or two before the move - this will limit the waste he makes when traveling.

- If at all possible making moving the Oscar the last thing you do at your old place.

- Get out your bags - one for the foam, one for the carbon, one for the biomedia [if you have that]. Prepare the cooler for the oscar. Fill it with water from your tank, add the amonia remover filter insert. Attach the pump.

- Now is the time to unplug the filter and bag up all the media. Try to keep it at a stable temperature, out of direct sunlight, for the durration of the move.

- I find it easier to start draining water [a Python Syphon works wonders] and onces it's about half way empty start try and remove your oscar. Plop your pissed off oscar into prepped bucket and carry him to a corner or whatever where he won't be bothered while you finish tearing down the tank.

- Scoop some of the gravel into another bucket and some water as well.

Overnight keep the oscar in as calm an area as possible.

When setting up your tank, add the gravel that you removed, your filter inserts, get the heat up and throw in the oscar. Well, float him in a large bag if you can.

Hope that helps.

You should have no problems, this time of year, be very careful that the temperature does not exceed about 95 degrees..you do not want the fish to be cooked. Good luck
