That depends on what you're trying to accomplish.
If you're looking to start a fish fight, it's one of the smartest way to do so.
If, however, you're trying to breed betta fish, it would be smarter to make one of them a femald betta fish.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not. I don't want to seem overly serious if you are, but in case you're not, NEVER put two beta fish together.
If you try putting a mirror next to or in one's tank, their tail fin will flair out and (on my brother's fish) turn rainbow. This means that they wan't to fight with their new comptetitor. Unless you want a dead fish on your hands, I wouldn't reccomend it.

uhmmmm.. NO! they are called fighting fish for a reason. Try this and see why.. take a small hand mirror and hold it ithe water so your beta can see him self. watch what happens! dont tease the poor thing. take the mirror out after a few seconds.

If you want to see the male betta strut its stuff, use a mirror and hold it up next to the tank. It's really cool. Or put another tank of a male betta next to the tank with the male betta. When they see each other they would want to fight. But no one gets injured. =)
Also the only time to put in a female betta is when you want to breed them. They both need to see each other regularly, while not putting them together, before you put the female betta in. ALso make sure to have a big enough tank.
