Go to "About.com" and follow their links to setting up and maintaining a freshwater aquarium. They are experts and have a lot of excellent info.
I believe you can even print out their fact sheets or at least download and print.
Just look online, lots of good info, will save you the $ from buying a book. Here's a couple of fish forums, just read through the stuff, have a question just ask. You'll find out real quick who the smart ones are lol.

Go to your local library they usually have a good selection and if you find one that's suitable go out and buy it.
Go to website www.fbas.co.uk there is loads of information on that site.
Go to your local fish shop, not pets at home, and ask them all you need to know. I did that & they were much more helpful than any book I bought. Good luck :o)
