is there any way to revive dieing live rock
i think my live rock is dieing because there spots thast are turning white and i was wanting to know if there was any way to reveive it or if it is really dieing. the reason i think it is dieing because i used ich treatment and i didnt have enough salt to to make a bucket to put the live rock in and i had already used the treatment b4 i read that it might kill of the live rock. the live rock was only in the treated water for like 12 hours but that might of been to long
Answers:The above advice seems pretty good and I can't say for certain, but placing another live rock may boost the life on your dieing rock, or kill the new one.
Where do you live? If you live near the ocean or gulf, the best method to get a tank in shape fast, as far as micro-organisms is to put a live crab in your tank. Don't buy one at a fish store, I am talking about a crab caught that day from teh sea that is for eating. Of course, you can't have any fish in there or he'll eat them, but one blue crab or similar can really correct levels and organisms in only a couple of days. After that, throw out the crab or boil him for supper.

Have you gotten the meds out of the water? I know carbon works in FW tanks, not sure about SW though. Maybe adding more live rock to the tank? Doesn't it spread to the other rock? Sorry I'm not real familiar with SW, so here's some links you can try posting there. Sorry couldn't help.

You cant revive liverock all you can do is save any life left on it. What I would do is get a rubber maid container fill it with the liverock and some saltwater with a PH of 8.2 and specific gravity of 1.021-1.025 and put a power head in the container. test the water everday to see if there is a spike in ammonia and nitrates. do 50% water changes everyday. Make sure the rock doesnt smell like rotten eggs and use a new reg brush to brush off any dead creatures. Do this for about two weeks once the levels are 0 you can add it back to your tank and life should grow back on it with time.
