ick and i no he got it from eating feeder fish !!

i now put him in a 20 gal hospital tank with ick tretment for a day now and theis moring i put more in and i removed the carbin

Answers:

Ick also cannot survive in warmer tank temperatures.

If your tank is at say 77 degrees, you can raise it "slowly"

to 80 degress just for the amount of time it takes for the Ick

to be eradicated and then "slowly" back down to your set temp.

Ok, I just came across this.(they recommend raising the temp to

NO MORE THAN 82 degrees F)

http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/hdwspot.

Raising the temp is VERY effective. I had the same problem

and used the Ick cure along with raising the temp and the Ick

was gone in a day or two.

I will join in the chorus of some of the other posters:

"STOP WITH THE FEEDER FISH ALREADY!!"

TetraMin is well-balanced and really is all you need to feed them.

And the question is?
you should not have carbon in a hospital tank as it cleans the treament from the water. just run a cotton filter or sponge filter in there and no rock. and then add treatment and give him a few days after his full medical course so he can recover and regain strength. feed him pellets from now unless you start quarantining your feeders.

and while he is in the hospital tank clean the other tank. from top to bottom full water change and pull the rocks and see if you can sanitize them a little with really really hot water.

make sure you remove the carbon, because carbon purifies the water, and will remove the ich medicine. Ich can take up to a week to cure, make sure you do a 10 percent water change before adding a new dose of medication to the tank. this will also help to remove the ich from the tank. also try to increase the temperature of the water to 75 degrees. this will also help to get rid of the ich. don't worrie about the oscar, they actually prefer warmer water.
use quICK cure an make sure u feed him goldfish feeders an not minnows. minnows have a high ammonia content.
My Oscars got ICH from feeder fish as well.
