my Oscar is too full what do I do2007-11-24 23:38:43

I bought 8 feeder guppies last night and put them in the tank with my oscar and parrot fish there are only 2 left but I don't think the parrot ate any and now my oscar is barely swiming around what should I do?

Answers:

That is VERY common!

Oscars will gorge themselves on fish. I used to keep oscars and after feeding them, they would swim around with half a fish (usually the back half) sticking out of their mouths. They ate so much they were unable to swallow the last fish, but unwilling to spit it out.

There really is nothing you can do, and i wouldn't worry too much.

Dont you get tired after a large meal?

Don't feed him for 5 days then 1 guppy a day!!
I have to agree with urban, theres nothing to worry about. He is just full. My Oscar does the same thing after he ate a huge meal.

He should be ok and perk back up in a few.

get a new tank
Oscars generally eat a lot if given a chance. So limit a few a day or 1. Depending on the size of the fish. It's pretty normal for them to gouge on food.
This is normal. But you should take care of them by feeding limited amount of food.
