Answers:Being upside down will not kill a hermit crab.
Possibly the tank conditions are wrong. What setup are you useing?
Substrate
waters
foods
temperature
Humidity
items in the tank
type of tank
lid?
lights?
There are so many questions one would need answered before you can make a guess as to what is going wrong.
A crab does not die simply from turning over and not getting up.
Here are some tips to get you started on the right path.
Use at least a 10 gallon glass tank with solid lid and aquarium lights.
Get a temperature and a humdity gauge.
Temp must be between 76-82 gegrees F at all times.
Humidity must be between 75%-85% relative at all times.
You must use gauges, you can not simply guess.
You must provide fresh and marine salt dechlorinated waters in deep pools so the crabs can fully submerse themselves, but still provide a way in and out of the water.
You must provide fresh fruits, veggies, meats, fish and whole grains.
They must have food in the tank 24/7 changing it our once every 24 hours or sooner if mold or spoilage is seen/smelled.
You must never offer the same foods 2 times in a row they must have a good variety.
