The best thing to do is let him work on the natural Algae buildup in your tank, and perhaps put a single waffer in at night prior to lights out on your tank.

Algae is in there even though you cannot see it. Trust me on this one.

Try Omega One algae disks, they are better quality then wardleys.

i usually give my pleco a disk every two weeks. the rest of the time he does what he is supposed to do.clean the glass and ornaments as well as the bottom.

It depends on if he's well fed or not. Plecos are scavengers. They need a fair amount of vegs in their diet, but will also chow down on missed flakes on the bottom. He may be already well fed. Unless the tank has no algae in it he only need 1-2 wafers a week. Plecos prefer to feed at night, and hide during the day. Throw the waffers in both you go to bed.

PS- Plecos if hungry will get the food they need. I've seen them invert and take floating food. Mine tend to come out during normal feedings if they are hungry, and grab the stray food that hits bottom. (In which case I throw in a wafer before bed.)

If your plecostomous is new, he may just be used to eating regular fish food. I know my pleco perfers fish flake food. You would be surprised how little they will eat for how large they are. He may just not be hungry or he may be consuming it later after it has absorbed some water.

You may be putting to much in the tank. it doesn't take much one or two every other day , or wait until it is gone to replace
