please help, what species of shark are yellow and why would they be in the lake2007-11-24 23:40:07Answers:
They have had some Lemon Sharks, is yellow, and sometimes wondered too far up the mouths of water ways empting into the sea, but usually not found in fresh water.
The bull shark is the only shark that is capable (that is known for now) to be able to go in both fresh water and salt water. They usually aren't yellow, but maybe their young are that color.
Interesting question.
Are you sure it's not a flat head.. or a cat fish. Flat heads resemble sharks and they have a yellowish tint. I've seen Flat heads the size of small fishing boats. Most people catch big ones on bank lines.. If it's not a Flat head then you should contact your local fish and wildlife agent and have them come check it out. Anything is possible, My mom caught a 8 pound Piranha in a local lake before..
I have never seen or heard about a shark in the waters of a lake. I would say that would be a rare find. As for it being yellow in color once again a rare treasure that you have found. Good luck and best wishes to you and your find.
Few sharks of any size are found in fresh water lakes. More likely it's a catfish, sturgeon, or the like. They can get huge, and sort of shark like. If the lake is connected to the ocean a shark could have swam into the lake. I've seen seals, and fish do it. A shark wouldn't stay long as it would die in fresh water.
