should I move my aquarium or am i OK for now2007-11-24 23:40:16

I have a 10 gal aquarium on an old vanity (like 4 years old). I have not gotten the table wet (i think) but it seems to be bowing in the middle. It's in my b-room, so should i move it out or just get another table, or is it fine where it is? The bowing isn't bad, i just noticed it, it's been there for 2 months.

If it is bowing, I would definately moving because it is only going to get worse. It will either ruin yout table, or worse break and then you would have a big mess of water, broken glass, and dead fish to clean up.

Move it. Even if it seems safe now, any sort of vibration, or bump could break the glass. You don't want to take the chance.

The aquarium is too heavy for the vanity. It's fine, though, I think. Our TV stand is bowing that way too, and it has for years. The TV hasn't fallen yet.

It is always better to have your tank on a stand. ten gallon tanks a heavy and will bow your vanity. They don't make vanities to hold that kind of weight, so yes i think you should move it. Proud owner of a 55 gallon tank and a 33 gallon tank.

I would move it before the table breaks completely. You may not be there when it breaks and come home to a huge mess and dead fish, you can save yourself a lot of trouble, mess and money by moving the tank now to a sturdier table. You won't have the mess or have to replace all of the broken pieces and buy new fish. And your carpet won't be all wet and stinky! You know fish water stinks!

go to walmart and buy a 10 gallon tank stand for 20 dollars

It will probably cause pressure points in the aquarium making the aquarium start to leak/crack. I would suggest putting the tank on something more level (with a sheet of Styrofoam underneath)
