should i get another eel
should i get another eel2007-11-24 23:40:15
i have an eel in my saltwater tank and my friend want to get rid of his eel. they are of the same species. what would happen with two eels in the same tank.
Answers:If the tank is large enough, you can mix more than one if your eal is a relatively peaceful and small species, like the snowflake eel. Most of the larger moray eels, like those from the genus Gymnothorax gorw large and aggressive and it is not feasible space-wise to provide enough territiry for more than one,.
Nothing. I say go for it--as long as he is asking you to pay an arm and a leg for it. Two is better than one any time--ask Michael Jackson!
Hmm, if they are both male, then they might become territorial and hostile towards one another. You might want to test it out first, how you would do that, I have no idea.
It depends on what kind of eel it is. I think it might get along, just make shure you have plenty of room. If you dont they'll kill eachother.
Depends on if they are different sex or same sex doesn't it. They rub along quite well together normally, but you could end up with masses of them, so be careful. If same sex, your eel may like the company, but you will only find out by trying.
Good Luck
I am sure that nothing would happen and eventually they would get along quite well. Rather than your friend killing or other means getting rid of his. I would be a humanitarian and take it.. it would be cruel to the eel if you did not.
