should i put a goldfish in the same bowl with a male betta2007-11-24 23:40:16

You can put them together but not in a 1 gal. bowl. general rule is 1 inch fish per gal. of water. if those are the only 2 fish you are going to have get a 5 gal. or give them lots of room and get a 10 gal. with filter and gravel.

no and definately not a 1 gallon the betta fish will be too scared and that isn't enough room for two fish.

No way! Betta fish are better off alone in any tank you put them in. they do not appreciate company, and will kill anything you put in with them.

About the only fish you can safely put in with a betta, is a Molly. BUT.. in a 1 gallon tank, i wouldn't recommend it. There's just not enough room for "hiding", for either one.

If you had a bigger tank then i would say its ok. i had a 10 gal. that had goldfish and 1 betta but dont put it in a 1 gal.

Oh my gosh no. Beta fish are not friendly fish. The gold fish will be swallowed in minutes. Or the Beta will torture it until its ready to eat it. Definetly separate the two fish!

I did it before I knew that beta's like to live solitary lives, but it never killed my gold fish. Maybe I was lucky.i don't know. They seemed to actually get along. People tell me this is not what normally happens, but I am not sure.

NO. Male bettas are naturally aggressive. The beta will kill the goldfish.
