tank help please really need it
i have 5 guppys,3males and 2 females,2 baby plattys and the mother, these are all in a ten gallon tank wat other fish could i put in there?
oh yeah aND I have a african dwarf frog
Answers:any tropical "community" fish will live together peacefully. If a fish will fit into another fish's mouth, it will be eaten, no matter what kind of fish it is. I have a 55 gal tank, and a 30 gal tank, if i dont catch the and seperate the babies as they are being born even the mother will eat them. Your tank is going to get pretty crowded and there isnt going to be enough oxygen and your levels are going to go nuts if you keep adding fish. Id suggest a bigger tank if you want to add more fish, as the fish you have now will reproduce about once a month. Guppies Plattys and Mollies all work well together, i had problems with my dwarf frog eating baby fish. I also had a bala shark in with my live bearing fish and he did just fine, as well as little neon tetras.
remmember, one fish per every gallon. If the babie platys are small, the guppys might eat them. You could but tetras, or mollies. But i would get a bigger tank, or anotheer 10 gallon to put some in.
There are quite a few fish that will get along like mollies or tetras for example but the pet store ppl will know more ! Dwarf frogs are cool!
umm.. you already have too many fish in there..
maybe a cory or two, sounds like it might be getting crowded in there though
good fish would be guppies, platies, mollys, and all other sorts of community fish! i will add DETAILS TOMMOROW! do not listen to mollielover! oh and for super healthy fish, go to :scales n" tails: and buy stuff there! it is really cheap!
You do not have too many fish. Rule of thumb is an inch of fish for every gallon. You do need a good scavenger. I would recommend a Cory. They come in many varieties, will not bother the other fish and only grow to about an inch in length in a ten gallon tank. The fish you have are all classified as "community tank" type fish. Tetras will get along with them as well as other small live-bearers.
Remember - 1 inch of fish per gallon!! You can only push this rule if you are willing to compensate with more water changes. If you load your tank to the max with fish, it stresses them. Stressed fish don't live as long and their colors are less brilliant.
None, as you're currently overstocked. The general recommendation is 6 gallons per African dwarf frog for just the frog alone. Now, add in your guppies (at full size will be about an inch and a half each = 10 inches) and the 3 platies (at full size will be about an inch and a half each = 4.5 inches). If you're going to follow the inch of adult fish per gallon of water rule of thumb (and you really should as a beginner aquarist), you're already looking at 14.5 gallons, add on the 6 gallons for the frog, and you should have them in a 20-gallon tank.
