this is an emergency, help , my fish is dying2007-11-24 23:41:11
just this morning i found out that one of my pet goldfish's tail (only half of it) was bitten off. it can still swim a bit though. i can see a bit of it's flesh and it's eyes turned off-colour . it's sides has some bruises too and i'm sure it's dying. what should i do? no doubt that the other goldfish in the tank has done this. they have been living peacefully together for more than a year now and how could something like this happen? i remember the same thing happened to my cousin's goldfish . why could have caused this sudden behaviour in goldfishes? by the way my goldfish and my cousin's are the slim kind not the podgy ones
Answers:Something is wrong.Fish pick on weaker fish. The one goldfish sound like he needs some attention or separate him.
Forgive me but there are absolutely worse problems in the world than your fish.
drown it.
If you're sure he's dying I would euthanize him quickly. Alka Seltzer tablets in a glass of water, then put the fish in to kill him quickly. Other fish will pick on weaker fish. Sorry about your pet fish.
Put your sick goldfish in a separate bowl, it won't need any pump or filter, goldfish can live in bowls with no circulation if you clean it every other day. Go to your pet store or Walmart and get some stress coat for your fish, follow the bottle directions and add to the bowl. He should be fine. Leave him in there for a couple months until his tail grows back and he is stronger. Good luck.
One cause could be that you have too many fish in a tank that's too small. That will cause fish to pick on each other. Another cause is that the fish was weak from some sort of sickness which drops it's defences against the other fish. The best course of action would be to isolate the sick fish in another tank or something similar. Aquarium salt is very good at helping heal sick fish, so if you have some at hand or can get some at the pet store, it can be used in all freshwater environments whether your fish are sick or not. If your fishy does pull through, it's tail may or may not grow back. It depends on how close to the body it was severed. Not to worry though, one of my gold fish is still alive after 6 years of only a little piece of its tail left. Good Luck! Hope this helps
take him out or take the bully out, and buy some fungicide for fish(I think its the one that turns the water green). Keep an aerator in the tank to if you can. tail should be back to normal within 2 weeks
let it die god how much do goldfish cost three dollars
try take out the other goldfish your cus one and put that in a water bowl and go to the vet ok
Seeking vetinary advice is few and far between sadly, there is a seriouse lack of vets around the world that actually will and can treat fish. You do need help and the fastest and most accurate help is with a goldfish board specializing in Goldies or Carp species. It is probably a Common, Comet or Shebunkin, single tail species. The large bellied types are often referred to as Fancies.
