what kind of fish is this
a friend of mine brought me two fish, one of them i know that is an angel fish, but the other one is small, looks fat, not the shape of a normal fish, is really fat, is yellow and have black spots, is really cute, he lost the paper of the store and i don't know how to take care of it, i have a 20 gallon freshwater tank, please help me
Answers:I would need to see a picture. Sounds kinda like a brakish puffer. Look at this site and see if it is what you have and read about care. http://www.aquariumfish.net/catalog_page.
If that is what it is, I know they are hard to take care of. They like snails and brine shrimp and you have to add a little salt to the tank. They have a beak/teeth, they could kill the other fish..
Appropriate Home. Eventually a large aquarium with at least 50 gallons of water, an exterior power filter with a BIO-Wheel, a maximum of 1/4 inch of gravel, and an aquarium heater adjusted to between 78 and 82 degrees F. Click here for more information about warm water aquariums.
Some Puffers do best in freshwater, and other Puffers do best in brackish water with at least 1 Tablespoon of aquarium salt per each 5 gallons of aquarium water. See the table above for more about the type of water preferred by each species of Puffer.
Recommended Diet. Freeze dried blood worms and freeze dried shrimps or krill, plus frozen and live brine shrimp, live Ghost Shrimp, and an occasional treat of a few live Black Worms. Click here for more information about Black Worms.
Puffers have uniquely powerful beaks, that they use to crack open snail shells, and puffers love to eat small aquatic snails such as rams horn snails. Puffers will also eat Crabs and Shrimp. Click here for more general information about how to feed your fish.
cat fish? i really don't know!
it might interest you to know that eating some types of strange fish can make you lose all your hair
Ring the store up to get a confirmed ID, but treat it the same as the angel fish & you cant go wrong.
It sounds more like a type of Koi?
I agree I would say he's probably a puffer if I had to guess.
