I'd rather use the 75G tank for Tropical fish as a Community tank (assorted fish), but keeping in mind to keep away the aggressive fish. Decorate it with lotsa live plants like the amazons etc., some good driftwood and rocks and put in lotsa neon tetras, a red-tail shark, also try Discus (dey do good when there are lotsa plants), silver sharks, angel fish.
Salt water tanks are a pain to start with, but once you can establish the eco-system, it is awesome to look at. the fish are more colorful, but expensive. good luck hunni.
salmon
A pair of Oscars would be great for that
I would LOVE to have tropical fish. (My tank is only 29 gallons and I only have guppies, neons, etc.) If you do decide to get a saltwater tank keep in mind that you will put A LOT of time and work into the tank to maintain everything. Saltwater fish are definitely more interesting and beautiful but they are a lot of work!

Well, fresh and tropical fish are the same thing. Are you trying to decide between freshwater and marine (saltwater)? If you are an aquarium novice, I would never attempt a saltwater tank of that size. There is a lot, I mean A LOT that goes into a saltwater system. The fish are much more expensive, so each one you kill will set you back $30 or more. For a starter saltwater tank, go for something 30gal or less. For the 75 gallon tank, Tropical fish are a great idea. But there are so many different groups within the tropical fish genre to pick from. Cichlids are one of the more interesting groups to own. They are uaually very agressive, so you need to be very careful when choosing tank mates. But they tend to be a lot more colorful and pretty fish. Some nice tame fish for community tanks would be bala sharks, gourami's, plecostemous, rainbow fish or catfish. All of those will grow large in your tank, my channel catfish is about 9 inches and my bala sharks are about 7-8 inches, and growing in my 72 gallon tank. Get decent filtration, I use 2 filters for my tank, to keep it clean, and you will need a heater.
It really just depends on what you want to look at. Do you want to have a pleasant looking tank with live plants and colorful fish? Do you want a predatory tank with aggressive fish?
There are tons of things you could do with a 75g. Just depends on what you are looking to have in the end.

This is an impossible question to answer and you would need to do some research to find out what you like most, because there are hundreds of choices and not everyone has the same taste in fish and aquarium styles.
