What is the best kind of fish to have as a pet and why? Take into consideration price, cleanliness, and appearance.

I'd say a freshwater fish is a first consideration for the type of fish to buy. Now, you should think more about small goldfish not those large ones or else you know that your money will basically go to waste because the fish will end up dieing pretty quickly. Goldfish at my Walmart cost only about 28 cents but wherever you live it may cost more or maybe less. You shouldn't start out with buying a fantail just because it's pretty. For any type of freshwater fish, you should buy Tetrafin goldfish flakes, they say goldfish but I'm pretty sure that it can be feed to other freshwater fish because I've tryed it before.

You should start with goldfish. Although they won't last long, it's the easiest to take care of. If you have a pond, it would be the best but if you have a tank, you may want a 2 gallon tank, but if you have a bowl, I'm telling you, doesn't matter what type of fish, they'll die, especially guppies(betta's may last longer than other fish).Also remember that you should go in this order

(1)Coldwater

(2)Freshwater

(3)Saltwater

(4)Tropical
