really would'nt a betta website be a better place for info? this site is being overun by betta geeks!

People who are new to aquarium fish don't know that. They tend to buy the most attractive fish that doesn't cost a lot. That would be the betta. They are purposely arranged near each other so they frequently display their fins at each other - looking gorgeous as bettas do. The pet shop owner tells the person how they can survive in a tiny little aquarium or bowl (much less expensive than a big, complicated one with filters and such). That means that there are more new people getting them than other fish and needing information on them.

Bettas are among the more common fish that people own. Because they usually aren't cared for properly due to ignorance, they tend to get sick. Rather than sign up for a new fish forum, it's just easier for some people with existing yahoo IDs to come onto this site and ask their questions here. And since some of us on here actually know what we're talking about, they can usually get at least one good answer as to how they should remedy the problem.
